Don't dive into the dark!

The sun is going down earlier and the sky is dark after 6:15pm. You know what that means right? It's time to install new LED lights for your #pool ! If you're anything like my family... we love night swims and since in Florida it doesn't get too chilly (maybe for a month, if that!) we can enjoy our pool all year long. Installing the new #LED lights ensures your family endless nights of fun. The last thing you want to do is enjoy your pool in the dark with old or #fadinglights, so call #BlueRibbonPools today and have us come out to install them.
You have such a wide selection, want neon colors to change? We can do that, or if you want to keep it simple... we can do that too! Whatever the case may be, we think it's time you spruce up your backyard for that family reunion you've been wanting to have that will keep the kids entertained #InThePool and the parents feeling safe since they can #see !

Rain Rain Go Away...

Overwhelmed by all the rain we've been getting?
We live in Florida, and with that being said we all know... it rains A LOT. Often people ask us if there is anything they should do if their pool gets a lot of rain water and overflows? Well, you can drain it a little bit if you really need to – but be careful! Draining your pool can damage the equipment so only let it drain back to the NORMAL level. Next, you should really check the pH and Alkalinity level, if you need assistance there – we can help! The rain water can lower the pH and the alkalinity will take a big hit, so be sure to check those before jumping in. Next, check the sanitizer levels… how is the chlorine? If you water has been contaminated, which is often caused from rain… your sanitizer will start to work, lowering it’s level – so get that back up! Last but not least, and this isn’t necessary but if you feel the need… you can shock your pool. However, why not put yourself to ease and call Blue Ribbon Pools to come out and do all of that for you? We would love to help you and have maintenance workers 24/7

Hard to Believe!

Hello again- Ten years have already passed since Florida had four unwelcome guests: Charlie, Frances, Ivan and Jeanne, the hurricanes of 2004. So now is a good time to answer some Tropical Weather FAQ's

Q - If it's going to rain a lot, should we drain our pool down before the storm?
A - it's OK to drain some water from your pool ahead of a storm, but be careful! You could damage your equipment or your pool area by draining too much water.  In 2004 a large pool was seriously damaged when the water drained out ahead of a hurricane washed away support for the pool deck, leading to a $25,000 repair.

Q - Should I turn my pump off?
A- Yes. If power is lost there could be flooding in your equipment area. Pump motors that are turned off when flooded will frequently work normally after they dry out; if the motor is running when the water rises, they rarely last longer than a few days after they're restarted.

Q - Is it alright to put our pool furniture in the pool during the storm?
A - If it's the only place to safely store them during a storm, GENTLY put them in the pool. The oils, rust and other bad stuff that happens when furniture is put in the pool can usually be quickly fixed by your pool professional.

Hope you're enjoying this hot weather!  Maurice
